Is There A Place For Modernist Experimentation In The Reich?

Here’s a great little interview with Martin Parr at PDN online, via Rachel Hulin. Parr is still a breath of fresh air, and by now probably immune to the moral indignation of the ever-alive romantico-humanist tradition. In my Berlin years, trying to find my own voice, I had a lot of fun going out and taking Parr inspired pictures, like the bee (or is that a wasp?) trapped under a glass, at my favorite café in Mitte. Today I have no real “influences” from the photography world anymore, but when I had, both Martin Parr and his formidable foe at Magnum, Henri Cartier-Bresson, were the most important ones.
