While (or maybe because) I do not participate in photo contests, I really like this post. A great glimpse into the mind of a professional editor. Reminds me of the days when I was, shortly after leaving school, working for a local newspaper, and everybody in the room was a lot smarter than the people (mostly politicians) they wrote about. I sometimes miss that kind of no-nonsense atmosphere.
